@shogun47 I believe his arrival signals that De Jong is now available for sale because by doing this they can get solid revenues too and further invest in the squad. Also with this smart signing now I’m keen to see who else will they target because this transfer signals that they’re keen to target winning the champions league now and if they can add more quality player’s then they’ll definitely be a force to reckon in the champions league.
Not likely, De Jong will still be staying at Barcelona even though they recently got the green light to sign Ilkay Gundogan. De Jong is an important player for Xavi, and if Xavi wants to sell a player then I think it's Ansu Fati or Ferran Torres he will sell. I can't say for sure what Barcelona's plans are, but I think some players might be considered for sale so that Barcelona can adjust their finances.
About Frenkie de Jong, I hope he can be kept at Barcelona. He is a good midfielder so far and Xavi may have realized that a long time ago. If Barcelona is forced to sell him, then maybe it is a consequence that they can no longer avoid.
The arrival of Gundogan will of course take its toll, the financial situation is the reason for Barcelona to sell off several players who are considered to have contributed less to the team. But I agree that Frankie De Jong can be maintained even though the midfield has added new energy. Ansu Fati, Torres, Rapinha, Kessie and Garcia might be Xavi's considerations in letting them go and I think these players deserve to leave Camp Nou. But it could be that due to financial conditions, the Blaugrana management will make decisions that are beyond predictions, but I hope they don't make hasty decisions.
