Romelu Lukaku's loan contract is about to end by the end of this month. Inter don't seem like they are very interested in extending this contract or signing him permanently. Because Lukaku is far away from his old look now. He is playing really inconsistently and you know how he played a serious role in Inter's not being able to resist Manchester City more by playing extra time.
Therefore his recent performance isn't convincing enough for Inter to fight for him. They were really keen on signing him on a loan deal before because they were hoping to see the same effort from him. As you know they were a great duo with Martinez. But now there is nothing left of it.
Romelu Lukaku made 37 appearances in all competitions last season with Inter. Lukaku managed 14 goals and 6 assists in all his appearances for Inter in one season and I don't think his stats are too bad. Inter may need to consider signing Romelu Lukaku permanently for the next few seasons, but if indeed Inter feel that Lukaku's performance is no longer the same, then they are entitled to whatever the decision is.
Indeed, there is a decrease in statistics from Lukaku, especially when compared to his statistics in the 2 seasons between 2019 and 2021, but I think Lukaku is still quite reliable as an alternative for Martinez.
