No matter what Dortmund must be still in a very good position financially. After Bellingham's sale they have made a big amount of money. This is their priority in the end so I don't think they are still thinking about how they can lose their title chance like that. Yeah it was really unbelievable but they are still able to reach their main goals according to their vision.
As long as they make so much money in sales of their players it wouldn't be important for them whether they are champions or not. I assume the fans think the opposite but they must be also aware of Dortmund's policy already. Otherwise Dortmund can easily build a squad that can be much more competitive for the league title to win.
At least by selling some of its players, Dortmund has made a lot of profit. but for sure, I can't be sure how much net profit they get and how much they have spent as operational costs, salaries and others. but to survive in this competition, Dortmund continues to run its business in accordance with management's vision and mission.
To be honest, I rarely dig this far for all the information on a football team. however, we can speculate or make an analogy. to be sure, what is being done by Dortmund is very aware of its supporters. in particular, fans who come from their own country. because their fans know the system adopted by the Bundesliga with its 50+1. so, not many waves of protests by dortmund fans.
Unlike the case with Man United, when the Glazers were looking for more profit than what the Supporters expected, waves of protests came to criticize his policies.
Well, you know, uniquely, Dortmund has always been able to finish in the top 4 of the bundesliga even though several of their players have left for other clubs or leagues. they do not forget, apart from only creating young talents, Dortmund also still targets to remain competitive in the top 4 of the Bundesliga standings. in the next season, if luck is still close to them, maybe Dortmund will not waste the opportunity for the umpteenth time.
