The effectiveness of air defense depends not only on the type of weapons used, but also on the skillful actions of the people who use these weapons. Yesterday, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky awarded the title of Hero of Ukraine to Colonel Serhiy Yaremenko, commander of the 96th Anti-Aircraft Missile Brigade of the Center Air Command, under whose command it was possible to repel massive air attacks on Kiev in May-June, without allowing any of the more than 200 targets to be accurately hit targets and have already destroyed 13 Russian "invincible" Kh-47 Kinzhal aeroballistic missiles. If this is not the merit of the "Patriot" air defense system, then we can assume that the Ukrainians shoot down the vaunted "daggers" with small arms.

Only in Russia after this, three scientists from the Novosibirsk Institute of Theoretical and Applied Mechanics (ITAM), who were involved in the creation of the Kinzhal hypersonic missiles, were arrested. The authorities accuse them of treason. Among the scientists are Valery Zvegintsev, Alexander Shiplyuk and Anatoly Maslov.

Both the sides resort to misinformation, so it is very difficult to get a clear picture. Ukrainians claims to have shot down so many of these missiles (Kh-47M2 Kinzhal). But only once did they showed a concrete proof to support their claim. And that was in 10th May, when Vitali Klitschko went on video with fragments from a downed missile. The Russians claimed that those fragments belonged to BETAB-500ShP aerial bomb. According to the Russians, this missile travel at speed of up to Mach 10. However, Ukrainians claim that the maximum speed that they have observed is only around Mach 3.6.
