Mbappe can be a worthy replacement for Karim Benzema. I think even Mbappe can perform better than Benzema with Madrid. However, it is completely uncertain whether Mbappe will join Real Madrid. Moreover, Joselu has been recruited by Madrid management. On the other hand, Liverpool are interested in spending 300 million for Mbappe. The chances of seeing Mbappe with Real Madrid are diminishing by the day. Mbappe has disappointed Madrid fans in each of the past seasons.
Mbappe is even a way more skilled player than Benzema. He is a football legend candidate already now. But he needs to add Champions League titles to his collection to improve his achievements much more. Because maybe he is playing amazingly individually but this isn't enough to be called a legend in my opinion.
He needs to win as many titles as possible and break records as many as possible also. Reaching Messi and Ronaldo's level isn't that easy for any other player at the moment. Mbappe needs to give his many more years into it.
For this goal he had better pick the right team and that team seems to be Real Madrid for him.
