It looks like Lukaku will be at Inter next season, Inter Milan, especially Inzhagi, still want his services. Reportedly Inter's management has submitted a second proposal to Chelsea to loan him one more season with the option of a permanent contract for the following year. Lukaku feels that he fits into the game scheme implemented by the coach, and is more loose when playing at Inter than when playing at Chelsea.
I think Lukaku's performance in the second period with Inter was not optimal when viewed statistically. Because I think he needs to adapt again to the culture of Inter's game as well as the coach. While in the EPL it is more of a hard and fast style of play, while in Serie A it tends to be slow but sure. These are two opposites, but if Lukaku manages to stay at Inter I'm sure he can get back to his best.
I wouldn't think that Lukaku will be back at his peak because I think he's been past that in the previous period. I agree that Romelu Lukaku can still score goals and contribute to Inter, but he won't be as good as before.
Remember that Lukaku is already 30 years old and will soon be 31 in May. His pace has dropped, his goal stats are no better, but he could still be a threat to any defender Inter will face next season. So even if Inter manage to keep hold of Lukaku next season, then maybe they will finish the deal at the end of the season without needing to buy him permanently.
