Is it that you don't wish to buy bitcoin or you are not ready to buy bitcoin because they are many people here who use the money they earn in the forum to buy bitcoin. So since I don't advice someone to buy bitcoin and you have already knowledgeable about how the Bitcoin work and other necessary things someone to know in bitcoin investment, if you wish to hodl bitcoin and you can use the money you get from these forum to do, many of us use the money we got from signature campaigns to hodl our bitcoin and then we use the money we get from the real life to do all the necessary things out there.
However if you also need it, you can think about it and see if you can be able to buy some btc by that mean. If not when you said you just felt waste of effort which sound as what you are doing is not legit or its scam since I believe it's only what does not use you can be suffering and one day you won't reach out anything from what you have suffered for. Those are the things that can only make you said your effort is wasted which in bitcoin is not like that you may even gain more  than what you have invested.

But if you also need it, you might consider it and see if you can use that method to purchase some bitcoin. If not, it would sound as though what you are doing is a fraud or a waste of time since, in my opinion, suffering is only possible for things that don't benefit you, and eventually, you won't be able to recover from your suffering. These are the things that will only lead you to conclude that your efforts were in vain, but with bitcoin, things are different and you might even end up making a profit.
