This is slightly wrong; why do i say so? Liverpool generally had a poor and inconsistent season; but their attackers did not underperform, instead Liverpool struggled in midfield and Defense and Klopp has been wise to work on those weakness in the summer transfer window.
Salah ended the season with 46 goal contributions, Darwin Núñez ended the season with 19 goal contributions, Gakpo has 10 goal contributions (joined in january). Klopp has done the needful with the Liverpool midfield, next season; the squad will flourish
Currently, Klopp is still monitoring the transfer market to see which players he can buy so he can make Liverpool stronger next season. Because Klopp still needs some great players for lines other than those occupied by Darwin Núñez and Gakpo so that they can create more valid collaborations within their squad next season. Apart from that, Klopp must also have a slightly different strategy from the previous season so that rivals can have a little difficulty reading Liverpool's style of play.
So far, at least Liverpool have managed to recruit Szoboszlai from Leipzig and also, Mac Allister from Brighton, both in the same position as an attacking midfielder. Well, it seems quite clear that Klopp really prioritizes strengthening Liverpool's midfield for next season. Because yes, if Liverpool have midfielders who have high creativity then of course, Liverpool will be able to make attack after attack. But even so, I hope Liverpool's defense will also remain strong and solid. Because that way, it will certainly make Liverpool have a great chance to become a candidate for the title in the Europa League. Also, it will make Liverpool strong in competing in the top four in the English Premier League standings.
Nice move by Klopp to strengthen his midfield. We all agree that last seasons issues was emanating from the midfield not being able to link up well with Salah mostly upfront. Mane although long gone now, was a good link and had the pace to effect that attack, and the void was rather evident, even on the days when Liverpool performed exceptionally well, they always had the play pushed from the midfield.
With these additions, their chances are way better that even Chelsea and Arsenal, because Liverpool is a very powerful and daring team with Klopp's genius.
