I am just curious to know why people favor one Sport over another, when it comes to betting? Is there specific Sport that increase your win chance or do you bet on those Sport for other reasons?
I know most people will favor certain Sport, because they know more about the players or the teams and information is power, when it comes to betting... but some Sport are 50/50 when it comes to the outcome of the match. (One lucky punch or kick can make a underdog a champion)

I believe that people prefer to bet on the sport that they understand better. Since I find it difficult to comprehend cricket and basketball, I will personally choose soccer because I know that it is the easiest sport to understand and that many people enjoy it. Even people in rural areas are familiar with football, and I believe that soccer gives me the best chance of winning because it is the number one game that I am extremely familiar with. As I have previously stated, I cannot bet on a sport that I do not understand. i don't remember if I have bet on any other sport than football.
There is always favoritism in almost everything we do in life and that's also gambling inclusive and for several reasons people would want to favour a particular team or sport over another and for me, one of the major reason I always prefer a particular sport over another is the reason you mentioned above, and I also believe that would also be similar reason with others, because it will always be best when one sticks to what they know especially when making bets.
Away from choosing a particular sport over the other, i think choosing a team over another is one of the case scenarios as most gamblers are die hard fans of a team and will always bet in favour of the team when the case arises.
But truth be told that, I basically don't let favoritism bother me when making bets because I always have the consciousness of making profit irrespective of what sport and game I'm betting on.

And when betting, I don't think I'll bet on my team instead, I'll pick a team that has potential rather than my favorite for this reason, I'll pick a sport I know well so that I can pick teams with a better chance of winning. For instance, if we talk about Manchester City's most recent season, you can easily predict either a straight win or a draw this is an example of how knowing your sport helps you choose the best teams to bet on.
