If I'm not mistaken centralized exchanges don't take commission when you want to, say, trade bitcoin for ethereum.

If you use the conversion function, then it still won’t be possible to do it completely for free, because the exchanges make the conversion rate not entirely beneficial for the client, and in the end, if I wanted to exchange bitcoin (equivalent to $1000) for $1000 USDT, then with the swap I I can get not $1000, but, for example, $997.89.

The use of exchanges is not limited to bitcoin alone.
Unless you're not a gambler of course, and just want cryptocurrency to spend it. Which, in this case, I think bitcoin is your best choice. [/quote]

If I want to speculate in the short/medium term in volatile markets, then Bitcoin is not the best choice. Bitcoin has somehow risen by 100% this year, while many altcoins (especially from the top 100) have grown by 500-1000%.

Bitcoin is better than others in maintaining its growth over time and it is a more conservative tool for large capitals, but in the short term, Bitcoin often loses out to altcoins in terms of returns. Sometimes there are altcoins that, even in bear markets, are constantly rising, while Bitcoin is constantly falling. A striking example of such altcoins are Trust Wallet Token or OKB
