You're on the right path, investment is meant to be done with spare money and you using some money from your business is good because if the market was to crash, you won't be too concerned about your investment unlike those that use all the money they have on them to invest and any small corrections they start panicking and losing their minds because they invested more money than they'll be willing to lose, which is wrong investment strategy.
