Haha, addiction to gambling is lot a curse my friend, it's just a gambling disorder, lucky ones still find a way around their addictions before it turns chronic, while the unlucky ones, well, like you said, keep gambling even after they've gone bankrupt, they can go hungry the whole day provided they find some money to satisfy their gambling urge.
I know someone who made hundreds of thousands of dollars from gambling. But he got so addicted to gambling that he lost that money by gambling, he even sold his favorite bike and gambled with that money and lost.
