Manchester United have improved their performance quite much since Erik ten Hag took over. He started with finishing in top four and qualifying for the Champions League already. This is a really good start but the board and fans will expect more than this next season. Manchester United will need to be in a title challenge as soon as possible like in the old times.
The current squad is actually quite good for that goal but there is still some weakness. They really need a striker and goalkeeper signings now. Onana deal is nearly done though like I said before. But it is still ambiguous who they will go for when it comes to striker signing. I said Hojlund before but I haven't heard of any offer.
There is no doubt that Man U has improved compared to a few years back, this happens in football, clubs have their crisis times as they can't be shining all the time. That was Man U's time and I respect the contribution of other coaches before Erik ten Hag which people will hardly talk about. The steps to getting to their current level were not achieved at once. To me, the guy (Erik) met a better club compare to when Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was in charge, and he contributed his quota.
Nevertheless, I will hold my peace until the end of next season for further outlook. Man U was lucky also that Liverpool and Chelsea were not in good feats, just as Newcastle blew a good opportunity to finish in the 3rd place.
Next season will certainly be the most challenging season for Erik Ten Hag, because several teams that previously appeared inconsistent are trying to improve themselves by finding weak points last season and trying to change them by bringing in players who have the potential to lift their game.
Last season the top four and also the European competition zone did not have competition from Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea, but this time the two teams are improving themselves, and especially for the champions league zone Man United will get the biggest challenge from Liverpool maybe also Chelsea, so they can't be careless , failure in 2-3 matches might make it difficult for them to stay in the top four, so Ten Hag has to fix what is still the weak point of his squad, because of course they don't want the biggest defeat in club history to repeat itself, and maybe Man United is not only targeting the top four but the English league title which had been long enough they could not achieve.
