One beauty about the UEFA Champions League is that it is the home of surprises and upsets. Newcastle can pull up a surprise in the champions league next season and surprise many punters of the game. If you look at it in terms of the main goal of all the teams that have entered the Champions League next season is to win the Champions League. But because remembering that it will never be easy for all teams in fighting to become champions in the Champions League, of course some teams only target achievements for certain rounds. But if they can get more than that, I think that's more worthy of being called a surprise.
For me personally, if Newcastle doesn't have many new recruits in this transfer market, then it doesn't look like Newcastle has a good chance of going further. But yes, if in this transfer market Newcastle manages to bring in new players which of course are accompanied by good skills and potential, then this could give Newcastle a better chance of getting to the round of 16 and or maybe even getting to the quarter-finals. But as a team that has been consistent for two consecutive seasons in the Premiere League, then at least Newcastle getting a Champions League ticket is already a success for them at this moment.
I believe they will pass the group stages which should be their minimum objective for the Champions League.If they go further they can take every game step by step but having high expectations while they are coming back after more than two decades without participating in it,I believe last time they participated was when Alan Shearer the great attacker of the team brought them here so they should not have any big expectations out of this campaign.
As long as they keep the group which kept them in the top 4 of the Premier League chances are high for them to go much further than just the group stages but let's wait and see how it goes.
