Personally, I had a strong feeling that Inter did not really want to keep Lukaku and took advantage of the first occasion that came along, such as Lukaku's personal contacts with Juventus, not to make this deal. Lukaku's playing reputation is ambiguous now, and therefore I even wonder why Juventus suddenly decided to join the fight for the player.
We have wonderful players hanging on the transfer market this summer. This phase is being energized by the Lukaku deal, which is gaining traction. Inter Milan's Romelu Lukaku is an amazing player. It's disappointing he slipped out of favor under Thomas Tuchel's administration; he was loaned out to Inter Milan, where he put in most of his excellent performances, but Inter Milan didn't push hard enough to sign him. They were satisfied with the loan agreement; if he turns out to be a crucial player for the club's future, as Inter claims, the board and coach would do whatever to keep the Belgian international.
Inter had previously negotiated to sign Lukaku, but Chelsea's asking price was too high. even now Inter fans think Lukaku is a traitor because he will play for Juventus if a deal with Juve is actually done. looks like there are other negotiations between Juventus and Chelsea. that's what finally made Lukaku most likely to go to Juventus.
