I don't agree with what you have said here. How much time would it take to see how much you are spending on gambling and realizing that you are spending more than you can afford to lose. I don't think it takes more than a minute!
Saying you don't have time to do this is a lame excuse usually used by addicts so they don't feel remorse.
And for support, you are right. You need to talk with your wife or with a close friend. They will definitely warn you if they notice any addiction signs.
