Lautaro Martínez's age is still ideal for him to make a better career before thinking about more money in a low-level league, but one's interest in money is always there and it cannot be denied even though he is still a young player. And I still really want to see a player like Lautaro Martínez in Serie A next season, especially at Inter Milan so that next season Inter Milan can make tougher competition with their rival teams in Serie A.
Every player has a peculiar motivator that attracted them to the game of football. Some are spurred by money, while others are passionate about the game. Lautaro Martínez might decide to go to the Saudi Legaue, make some money, and come back to Europe after a few years. If he works hard and still maintains his quality many clubs will still have interest in signing him. Spending two or three years in the SPL might not hurt his career that much if he maintains his class and goalscoring abilities. But if he wants to win more prestigious individual and club awards, let him remain in Europe.
It is time we stop having this mindset that everyone that is joining the Saudi Arabian league is going for the financial benefits they’ll get there. Which league does not want young players, certainly none I think. If they can’t get the young players, they’ll certainly use the older ones to attract the young ones to come over. The Saudi Arabian league had a plan and I think they’re achieving that now that many people are now focusing on that league too.
The Saudi Arabian government has a long-term plan for the professional league. And they want to compete favorably with other top leagues, attract investors and secure the hosting rights for the world cup in the future. But for now, there are few motivators to attract young players to the league except for financial benefits. Even these Saudi teams know that without high wages these players will never come to the SPL, and that is why they are offering better pay. For now, the Saudi league will attract aging, clubless, and money-conscious top players. This might change in the future, but this is the truth for now. I will not also dispute the fact that some players might regard playing football in Saudi Arabia as an honor based on their religious beliefs. Some players that are Muslims want to enjoy football and the living in the religious society of Saudi Arabia.
