There's a popular  remark among gamblers in the part of  my country I reside. The saying is expressed like this "if you quit that's when you lose".
Maybe I also often read and hear a similar saying, which reads:
Quote
"It's not shameful to lose to gambling, it's shameful to give up gambling."

But the statement was broken by other words of wisdom.
That is:
Quote
“In the casino, the rule of thumb is to keep them playing and to keep them coming back. The longer they played, the more they lost, and in the end, we got it all." casino.

My understanding for your statement ( "if you quit that's when you lose"). That is a person's repentance and identity, they realize that the casino will get everything. 'stop gambling' is a choice to live a normal and healthy life, not vice versa to lose.
Especially when it comes to gambling Yoshie, you are right, this is not you trying to build a machine, where you must to quit on your dream, I remember how making a plane to fly in the sky was very tough and it was passed down from builders to other builders, gambling is not something worth striving for, it's a dream killer, it's why the LORD doesn't like it I believe.

Even when you are trying to create something that someone has never done before, there might come a time where you need to call it a quit, it doesn't mean you are weak, it's just to quit for the main time.

I have tried to solve things in my life, at first they get too complicated and hard to me,  and u quit, a year later I decide to check them out again and I found them more easier to handle, it's like I gained more knowledge after my first quit.

Quitting is no sign of weakness, sometimes it's necessary, to find your way or solution.

Mind you, no solution with gambling, it's name fits perfectly for what it is, if you have to quit because of gambling it's for the greater good.
