I think every team in the Champions League needs to follow Manchester City. Teams should think about what kind of tactics Man City is applying. I hope the rest of the teams will perform well this season. I want the Premier League to become more competitive.
Last season the Premier League also looked more competitive in my opinion, because Manchester City was really consistent in chasing Arsenal points last season. And it is likely that next season Manchester City will still be very strong even though other teams are also making better changes so they can make it difficult for Manchester City. But if other teams follow the tactics developed by Manchester City, it will actually make the other team weaker because it will be easier for Manchester City to find the key when making their attacks.
Every team, can adopt the system implemented by Pep Guardiola, without exception. but the problem is, this system is quite complicated and not all teams/clubs can adopt it. I mean, the players also have an important role in the system implemented by Pep Guardiola. I remember well when Pep was experimenting with his new system, there was a lot of empty space which was his weakness. including, the weakness of the players. uniquely Pep is a smart coach, he is able to cover the weaknesses of the formation pattern that he applies.
For example, City initially had a weakness in their pivot sector. rather, John Stones often gets things wrong. in particular, when he climbs slightly forward to help build up the attack. Pep saw it, that Stones needed the support of the players behind him. which in the end, Rodri operated more under John Stones. but when on the field, it doesn't always have to be like that. ideally, Pep gives instructions for the players to cooperate with each other when making quick rotations and transitions. ultimately, City's mix of players fits perfectly with Pep's system. now, the question is, can other teams do the same thing, the answer is yes. it's just that, do other teams have the ideal players with the system that Pep applies. IMO, that's why, not many teams/clubs adopt the system and formation that Pep Guaridola applies.
