I like your point here, they have to determine from their heart to change if not everything will results into wasted efforts if care is not taken, there's a stage an addiction will get to and go beyond control except if the person involved willingly determined to change but it would have been too late i most cases because they would have been seriously dealt with and left with no other alternative to live than quitting.
It's not that those addicts don't want to recover from their addiction but it's what's known as "relapse".
After rehabilitation, some if not most adficts have a tendency to get back to their previous habits (addiction).
Rehabilitation takes time and full recovery from addiction needs a strong will and strong personality from the addict himself. Yet, there will be always a possibility for relapse.

The exact idea of rehab is to regain back the normal mindset of a person to bring back the balance in him, but once he start playing back at his will, that rehab will be pointless and it will create more problem to the person, it's the own will that needed as after the rehab a gambler should never look to this venue even just for fun or anything.

As he always has that chance to be addicted again and it will trigger that lust to keep playing over and over again.
Going on rehab or having that professional seek of help is something that not necessary because you could eventually quit on your own if you are really that meant on doing so.

I disagree, gambling addicts have this situation where this relapse, cravings and many other things that will possibly force them to go back to gambling.  Rehabilitation is needed so that gambling addicts can have support while recovering their control over their addiction.  It is very important because it is a systematic way of curing people of gambling addiction.  Besides having professional help in a recovery of gambling addiction often gives more satisfactory result.

You got a point though but im not really that taking back on what i have said about its not necessary because on initial phase then having that self realization is primarily needed for you to get rid of addiction.
Yes, its hard but its not impossible and for sure there are some gambling addicts had already done such thing without even touching up professional seek of help.Just like i have said that each person is different
when it comes to their self control and discipline on which there are some who could be able to do it but there are ones who do fail on this part and this is why they do fail on quitting even into those
early signs of addiction but rather they do tolerate out that kind of feeling or emotion towards gambling on which this one makes them addicted.
