During the last season, Liverpool performed well and even came very close to winning a champions league ticket for the next season, but in the end, they didn't have the potential to win that ticket and they lost it to Newcastle United. As Liverpool is currently in good form, I think it is possible for them to be an excellent candidate for the Europa League next year.
Liverpool history and potential cannot be understated despite the difficulties they experienced and the relatively unsuccessful season they had last year. They are more than capable of giving Manchester City a challenging title challenge if they have a better roster and renewed tenacity. The inclusion of important players and improved pre season performances point to a stronger Liverpool team for the next campaign. While Manchester City is still a formidable opponent Liverpool is legitimate contender thanks to their talented players and footballing prowess. As they attempt to restore their place among the elite team in the English Premier league expectations for them to win the Europa League and qualify for the Champion League are within their grasp.
