I can assume that Roma reasonably assumed that Dybala could get an offer from Saudi Arabia, in which case they would receive a ridiculous compensation of 12 million. I wonder how much they increased Dybal's salary to motivate him to extend the contract. With such a shortage of strikers in many clubs, the demand for even the "non-star" Dybala must have increased.
But Dybala had become a prima donna when he started playing with Roma in the summer of 2022.
It seems that there will be no other club that can take Dybala even though it is a Saudi club because Roma actually defended him and gave him a salary increase during this contract extension.
Maybe Roma don't want to lose their attacking players like Dybala so they decide to increase wages and extend contracts even longer.
A good opportunity for Dybala considering that with Roma he was able to get a career in Serie A quite brilliantly.
Dybala is not a super star, but at Roma he is definitely a top player so it's no surprise that he gets special treatment. I don't see anything wrong with that. With the extension of the contract, both parties have shown the seriousness of their intentions and perhaps this will have a positive impact on the performance of Dybala.
