I think the exchange between Manchester City and Barcelona where there were rumors about exchanging de Jong for Bernardo Siva won't happen because does Barcelona really need Silva? He is good of course, but currently Barcelona has several offensive players with decent quality. But what I miss is this one star player that is above all else.
Technically Barcelona don't include an attacking midfielder in their usual formation. There is no such player in their squad as well. Bernardo Silva is mainly an attacking midfielder so Barcelona really don't need him specifically now. Of course he can play as a right winger as well. But there are so many alternatives on both wings at the same time.
While they have Raphinha and Dembele in the first place they don't need another big right winger transfer. This will just have to keep one of those players outside of the starting lineup if they bring Bernardo Silva to the team. I don't think Xavi wants that now.
Isn't Bernardo both an attacking midfielder but also sometimes a wing forward? I know what you are saying, but either way Barcelona would be set with Raphinha and Dembele although having an extra strong player for the wing positions who also can play a midfielder would improve the squad quite a lot.
Last season Dembele did not play 13 games in La Liga only because of an injury. Of course it would be crazy to call Silva a sort of backup player and that is not what I mean, but making the players push each other is one requirement for the best teams to reach their goals.
