Something that is very obvious or glarring will always be seen by more than one person. When I saw that very video, I was very much confused about the decision of Manchester United coach to bring the Young lad to the team.
I know he is still young and the Manchester United coach has the ability to make every young player a better player under him, but then my issue is about the amount he was bought.
It is not that there is scarcity of strikers in the market.  There are available strikers in the market, but just that Manchester United does not want to spend much and in the end they still spent much.
Maybe right now could say that Erik Ten Hag is gambling for the future of Rasmus Hojlund. With such a high nominal at such a young age, of course anyone would be quite doubtful about this decision. Regardless of how Atalanta raises the price, it is still difficult for Manchester United to find other options. Erik Ten Hag's wish has always been a unanimous and firm decision so inevitably he will fight for it even though finances are limited. After buying Rasmus Hojlund, Manchester United did not have an additional budget unless Erik Ten Hag released Harry Maguire.
Manchester United needed an experienced striker. As the team aims for the Premier League title next season. At the same time, Manchester United also managed to qualify for the Champions League. I don't know why Erik Ten Hag is adding a young player like Rasmus Hojlund to the squad without adding an experienced Striker. Rasmus Hojlund is quite a good striker. But we are not sure if he can do well with Manchester United next season. Rasmus Hojlund will certainly need a long time to adapt to Manchester United and the Premier League environment. A better performance is not expected from Rasmus Hojlund next season. Ten Hag is probably planning for the long-term now with the Manchester United squad.
It can't be denied that you are on point here with your statement. Manchester United hasn't been very active in terms of top strikers in the market. Rashford  was the best offender with 17 goals and after him there was only Fernandes with a mere 8 goals and then Martial with 6 goals. Quoting these numbers here actually makes me realize that finishing 3rd in the Premier League is quite an achievement with such a weak offensive line.
Rasmus Højlund is not the obvious solution to their problem unless he enfolds as a super talent turning into a super super efficient striker without any time needed to adapt to the team and the league. But what are the odds?
Mason Mount was a great transfer, but he is also no Harry Kane or Erling Haaland, but now that they are also playing the Champions League it is time for a big investment.

Mason Mount is a great player. However, Mason Mount can still be considered as a young player. Not enough experienced players yet Mason Mount. At the same time, Manchester United needs an experienced striker. But Mason Mount is a midfielder. He is not able to score too many goals. Mason Mount scored just three goals in the Premier League last season.

I think Erik Ten Hag's goal is not the title next season. He is planning for the long term. As a result, if the bond between the players is strong, then the Manchester United squad will be able to maintain a stable performance for a long time in the future. This is why Ten Hag are adding players like Mason Mount and Rasmus Højlund to the squad at high prices.
