Arsenal has proper depth now they lacked that last season, and another club to keep an eye on is Manchester City they have all it takes to win the Champions League again. Barcelona will not be able the win the Champions League not this season.
I wouldn't say Barcelona are one of the favorites in the Champions League, but I think Xavi has built his squad with a good mentality and is ready to compete with any team. Indeed, they do not have expensive squad depth compared to several other Premier League teams, but Barcelona's performance and play can be expected to be a threat to anyone.
Xavi failed to guide Barcelona through to the last 16 last season, so that will really motivate him to do his best next season. The most realistic target for Barcelona is to qualify for the round of 16, but for the higher stages it depends on the form of the team and who they are up against.
