I agree with you. The Bundesliga was very competitive last season. Union Berlin has been at the top of the table for a long time. The title would have been possible for Dortmund if they had won the last match of the season. We haven't seen that in previous seasons. Every season we have seen only Bayern Munich dominate. No team competed for the title.

Bayern Munich has definitely dominated the Bundesliga leaving fans who want for champions from a variety of sports feeling uninspired. It has been difficult for Borussia Dortmund to meet Bayern high standards and their upcoming season appears to be difficult. Bayern Munich well managed attitude and emphasis on achieving goals last season were a good sign which contributed to the competitiveness of the season. Union Berlin stands up as a possible rival with their present squad but other teams may struggle owing to financial limitations. To break up the monotony of Bayern domination, the league needs more teams to rise up and present interesting challenges.
Bayern Munich's dominance is very difficult to break. Because there are no more rich clubs like Bayern Munich in the Bundesliga. Dortmund and Union Berlin played well last season, but they are not as rich as Bayern Munich. Even so, I would say that Dortmund has the ability to break Bayern Munich's dominance. Because Dortmund has an experienced management. They can build a squad based on youth. And while the squad is young, they are capable of consistently producing excellent performances. If Dortmund doesn't make too many changes to their squad next season, I think this squad is capable of challenging Bayern Munich.
Dortmund is currently focused on developing young talent, but their main challenge lies in maintaining consistency. They came close to breaking Bayern's dominance last season, but unfortunately could not deliver at the end. Now, it's very tough ending their decade of dominance. If, by any chance, they fail to retain the Bundesliga title for one season, they'll end up purchase all the talented players from other Bundesliga teams in order to win it again. The truth is, none of the other Bundesliga teams are qualified enough to match Bayern's level. These teams are still in their early stages of development, lack of finance for making any quality recruitment and that's why they have a long way to go before reaching Bayern level.
