Basically Joselu is just a replacement option, Ancelotti's decision to play Joselu as a main player during pre-season cannot be separate from feasibility test considering he had just been brought in. For the reserve player level, Joselu isn't too bad in my opinion
When La Liga starts, maybe we will see the real performance of Real Madrid, at this time I agree that Ancelotti in friendly matches only tests the feasibility of players and try various experiments. As usual, coaches often do it to try different strategies. Actually you are right, Real Madrid signed Joselu only as a replacement option but if Ancelotti used a 4-3-3 formation maybe Joselu could have played as a centre-forward.
But I have other thoughts that after losing Karim Benzema Real Madrid will not be strong enough in this LaLiga and when compared to Barcelona I am pretty sure that Barcelona will be much better in LaLiga when it starts later.
I see and predict that Barcelona is likely to still be the LaLiga champion and for the runner up there are two possibilities between Real Madrid or Atletico.
Because Atletico and Real Madrid have almost the same performance this season and I don't think that Real Madrid will be weak this season, it's just that they have lost their strength a little after their flagship player went to another club.
Even though I know these recent matches were only friendly matches and only tested a few players but they also still gave their best to see how far they are and as a result Real Madrid have lost several matches in this pre-season and this proves that there has been a slight decline in the performance of their players.
I think Barcelona is strong,but this coming season,the champions are going to be real Madrid.Yes,Barca have acquired some quality signings like Gundogan,but there is that believe that Madrid will triumph them in the league because I watched them against Premier league side Arsenal,and I saw their stregth and weakness in that game.They are very good upfront, considering the fact that they have a very sharp attacker there in Lewandowski,and they also have wingers like Raphinha who were constant threat to the Arsenal defence,but when it comes to their defence,they couldn't stand Arsenal's attacking force,their backline isn't too strong enough to go into the season and win every opponent,I think if they should meet a very strong side that have force upfront,their is going to be problem because they will concede,and probably lose if the team they are playing against is very strong.Therefore,it is too early to conclude on the fact that Barca are the real deal because I don't see them as one yet,let's all wait to see as the season starts,and see each team's performances over time.
