This is actually very bad news for Bayern Munich. If they now have to look for a new goalkeeper, it will not be easy. They have to hurry up. The transfer window is only open for a little more than 3 weeks. That is a building site they would certainly have liked to have spared themselves. But they also had experience with that when Neuer was injured.
Let us see who will be in goal next Friday. Maybe Ullreich?
I am pretty sure it is going to be Ulreich since he is on a good level as he has shown now and he was also an extremely reliable substitute for Manuel Neuer in the past.
Regarding Manuel Neuer, I think as a goalkeeper he has had one of the worst injuries someone can have. The biggest problem is the mental limitation when the leg was once broken and you have one of these potential clash situations in a game where you have to run out and jump into the ball with everything you have. Physically, on MRI pictures, it could be looking great and a doctor can say that it should all be good, but when Neuer can't fully cope with it mentally, he can have all kinds of problems like phantom pain or hyper sensitivity because his body tells him to take care.
It has been said already that this is extraordinarily bad for Neuer since he is a field playing goalkeeper. If he is still having these issues, I seriously doubt that he will be ready to go at full speed in four weeks from now. This could still take three months or more and there is no guarantee that he can get his pain perception under control. He is 37 years old, soon turning 38, he has enough money and he's most likely thinking about his life after the career. That makes it even more difficult to get back into a motivated and smooth mental state to keep going on a professional level. The million dollar question is what he will do when it is a Champions League game, a long and deep pass is approaching his box and he and the opponent's striker are running towards the ball at full speed. Will he still be able to risk it all?
