all of that actually depends on strong principles and mindsets to really avoid gambling. if a person does not have strong principles surely his self control will be very bad so that he always accepts any offers related to gambling and after losing more money and when he gets home he will regret again that he has lost money at gambling.
but its different if you have strong principles and a wise mindset Im sure he will refuse all invitations from these friends. but after all, everyone has different characteristics and here we are just telling each other experiences to serve as lessons from others to become the best teachers in the future.
it is better to prevent than to regret any of our gambling activities.
And if he doesn't learn to have better self-control, he will only return to gambling and regret it again when he loses at gambling. But everything will change when he wants to learn to control himself so he will see the changes that occur. And he will surely be very happy that he can now use gambling as it should be and not have to regret anymore that he lost as much money as he could afford to lose. And he can also refuse invitations from his friends to gamble because maybe he is more concerned with other activities than just gambling. He can gamble whenever he wants and it doesn't depend on who invites him because when he wants to gamble, he can gamble immediately and stop whenever he wants.
While true the problem is going from not controlling yourself when you gamble to actually do so can be extremely hard, after all those unbridled emotions they may feel when they gamble with money they cannot afford to lose are something they are not going to feel at all once they control their gambling behavior, and in that case they will always be tempted to go back to their old habits, and for someone like that it may be a better idea to give up gambling completely before they do so.
