As far as the unprofessional behaviour is concerned, you are absolutely right. If they're continuing to accept deposits from people in full knowledge they cannot mix and return the funds then they should not be doing it. Also, if they were unable to give certain staff members permission to put that information on the website to temporarily stop deposits, it is another thing they will be able to look at to ensure it does not happen again.

Yeah, that's really good news, but let's not get ahead of ourselves. We still don't have any official word on what's happening with the service. And from what I know, there's still no confirmation that the withdrawals are actually working.
There's no sign of any notifications or warnings on their website, and if I start the mixing process, the system will give me a deposit address. So basically, Whirlwind is still accepting deposits from people like everything's cool. But they know their system is down and you can't take out any money. Honestly, that's pretty messed up and unprofessional behavior for a business.
