It seems that he did never go to areal casino because things are totally different from what he describes. It's no longer the old fashion casinos with men with moustaches and hats. Now, you can se women sitting equal to men on the poker table and they may ask for the same drink as them. Furthermore, it's most likely the woman sitting on the table who is going to win because she knows how men reacts.
It is probably the case, when I visit a casino I often see lots of women gathering on slots although there are still man playiing on that area, they are greatly outnumbered by women. I even see lots of old ladies enjoying their time playing in the slots area.
I asked for the research mentioned in the OP but I got nothing in response. All hearsay.
