I agree that if you feel remorse even just once, that's going to change your whole approach to gambling without a doubt, I get that it may not be a huge deal right away but at the very least you would know that you are doing a good job with what you have and that should make you feel proud. Being able to quit gambling is a tough thing, but even gambling less or gambling with a strategy and limitations is hard too, and after feeling remorse you start to do that.
For example, no matter how much I want to gamble, no matter what I am feeling, no matter how happy or excited or angry whatever I am feeling, if I reached my limit for the day, I stop gambling and do not gamble more at all, that's just how it is for me, try to do that.
When there is a feeling of regret after playing gambling, whether it's because we have lost playing gambling or we can't enjoy the gambling game, we can start slowly leaving gambling. Maybe not forever, but it's worth doing for a while so we don't experience any problems, including gambling addiction. And usually, we only feel sorry that day but will gamble again a few days later.
If there is regret when playing and lossing on gambling, then it is obvious that the player had lost more than he can afford to loose. It is possible that due to the heat of the moment, he was triggered chasing losses to recover his losses but instead of recovering the lost money, he ends up losing more. If that often happen, then the gambler need to reflect on his action. I agree that the gambler should slowly take a break on gambling because it is not normal to regret the gambling activities and then at the end of the day the gambler still continues to gamble non-stop.
And as long as we are willing to reduce gambling activity, we can give up gambling one day. And it will depend on our intentions which must be maintained so that we can really leave gambling. And feeling regret after playing gambling is good, at least it's a sign that we can still feel the sadness because we have experienced loss.
I agree, after all the decision is on the gambler. If he really wanted to quit, there is nothing to stop him doing it. It is the matter of how strong his will on executing his decision of quitting.
