I believe that a player should be given a comfortable role in order to perform to the expectations. Mount has played in attacking midfield most often for Chelsea and at United he is given rather a defensive midfield role so if someone is expecting a very good performance then they have to wait. I think he will adjust to attacking midfield at United very quickly but that position is occupied by Fernandes right now because he is much better option when it comes to creating chances and finding spaces.
Indeed. A player should play in their main position to make him easier showing his best form. The main position of Mason Mount is attacking midfield, Ten Hag must put him in that position. Moreover, Mason Mount just joined Man United, he needs time to adapt with Man United tactics and the whole players of Man United. If he plays in a new position, it just make him harder to adapt well.
Mason Mount never played as a defensive midfield, he only could play as a central midfielder. It is totally a new position if Ten Hag wants him to play as a defensive midfield. I don't why Ten hag needs another a defensive midfield, Man United already has Casemiro in that position, right? Ten Hah makes a mistake if he forces Mount to play in an uncomfortable position.
