Barcelona has indeed performed very well in the LA Liga, but Barcelona has often performed poorly in the past few seasons due to financial factors and injuries to several players which have been the cause of their unlucky UCL. Looking at the current composition of players, Barcelona should be able to perform in the UCL better than last season where they were forced down to the Europa League. The presence of ilkay gundogan as a creative midfielder should be able to present a game that fans miss in their heyday like in 2015
We all know that Barcelona has been in really bad financial troubles in the last few seasons. This has made a poor performance decline in various competitions including La Liga and also the Champions League. But since Xavi coached them, I think there is a good difference in quality at Barcelona even though they are not doing well in the Champions League.
Barcelona must be ready to face this elite competition this season after winning the La Liga title last season. I'm sure the quality of the current Barcelona team is better, but Xavi certainly expects something better to support his game. New players are needed to support the plan, but Xavi should be quite satisfied with the existing line-up given the team's current financial situation.
