Yes, I believe in thriving in the present, but not at the expense of another person's future. There is a significant distinction between "living in the moment" and making life-threatening decisions. How about "play responsibly?" Are you kidding? This is equivalent to instructing someone to consume junk food responsibly. We need more than catchy slogans to solve this problem. If you're going to discuss education and innovation, show me the strategy, not just the words.
I believe there aren't any innovative strategies on this matter. Gamblers have to follow the old rules people have been using since always to get away from trouble and addictions. Just play with money you can afford to lose, don't chase losses, treat gambling as entertainment and not as a job.

Even though it's hard to do this for real, the person has to try, and when he thinks he can't do this anymore, seek for professional help or contact family and friends. Scheduling another activities with friends and family can be a powerful strategy to distance thoughts related to gambling from his mind, which will gradually decrease the need of the person for compulsive gambling practice.
