By the way Darwin Nunez managed to improve his confidence and performance after much criticism last season I hope this is not the first and the last so he can compete with Haaland or replace Harry Kane on the top scorer list.
The media tried to establish a sort of competition/comparison between Haaland and Nunez last season, but sadly it didn't work out so well for them, and Haaland was in a world of his own, whilst Nunez had a first season to forget about. The worry for Nunez isn't about competing with Haaland per se or banging in goals like Kane who just left the EPL, Nunez has to work on himself, he has to convinve his manager that he is good enough to lead the line for Liverpool, right now he is not doing that and he still comes into games from the bench, even though he scored the two winning goals at the weekend, he is still yet to break into Liverpool's first team.
If Nunez can be consistent with his performance, it is not impossible to be on the list of top scorers this season, the chances are still quite big because the League has only been running for three weeks. The two goals against Newcastle slightly stemmed the fans criticism of him, quite dramatic I think because Liverpool were outnumbered by players. The existence of Salah, Gakpo and Luis Diaz on the front lines is difficult to replace, this has become an obstacle for Nunez to show his best performance.
However, thanks to these two goals, I think I can make him a starter in Juergen Klopp's squad in the next match. This is the best momentum for Nunez to show off, after being unsatisfactory last season.
