Rice prices here have even increased by around 9-10 percent in the last month in my area.
In which area do you live? As far as I know, the government has warehouses for basic food supplies, especially rice, spread across every city district and this functions to maintain a stable distribution of commodity needs. An increase of 10% is actually quite high, in my area it has been quite stable since the pandemic ended. Do farmers in your area only trade their products locally?
I live in Indonesia, the central region (Sorry I don't want to be specific here). Well, farmers here sell their agricultural products locally. But here there was quite a serious crop failure due to drought. Well, it hasn't rained here in a long time. About a few months ago the last time it rained. And the agricultural sector here is in a fairly high area. So here there is a lot of agricultural land that only relies on the rainy season. Meanwhile, in the dry season everything is left without planting anything. Well, in my opinion, the current increase in rice prices is the highest increase that I know of so far. But I heard the news that the government will solve it by importing rice from several countries. But I haven't heard any further news about this.
are you also Indonesian? where do you live?
because I read from other friends who are also from Indonesia but they said that in their area it was not too bad.
