They are still talented players of course but they are in a new environment and they need some time to adapt to playing together.
For example we saw this need in the match against Lorient. There was a big dominance but no goal as I said. But after this adaptation process ends I will be expecting to see a much better PSG. For now they aren't a very credible team to bet on. But this is my opinion of course.
Adaptation is necessary, but from some players who are really great and have the capability, it doesn't take them long to adapt and show their good performance. For example, Erling Haaland at Manchester City and Jude Bellingham at Real Madrid. September 4th we'll see Lyon match against PSG, Lyon is a pretty tough opponent even though they're currently at a slump at the start of the season, we'll see how PSG can see a good opportunity here or not.
Paris Saint-Germain are far from last season's legendary squad. I don't know if they can ever build a team of that level again. Even if the new signings adapt to the team, I don't think they will have the same impact.
Lyon started this season with disappointment. Laurent Blanc has a tough job with this team. The transfer season is also closed. Very difficult days await them until the break of the season. On the other hand, Paris Saint-Germain didn't start the season well either. But they made some good signings after Lionel Messi and Neymar left the team. And they are better than Lyon. I think they are the favorites in this match even though they are the away team.
It is difficult to predict at the start of this season, some people even say the same thing when club competition in League 1 becomes more difficult or more competitive and for PSG to compete at home to Lyon and this is something that haunts PSG, the fear of failure like last season when they still had Mbappe and Messi competed against Lyon at home. But my hope is that at least Mbappe as a mainstay player is able to score a lot to win but if not it is better to use a defensive formation for a draw than to lose embarrassingly.
