You are right we shouldn't use the performance of a club in the domestic league to judge the performance in the Champions league. Sevilla has been coming up with poor performance since the beginning of this season,I think that there is a reason for this. Maybe they want to stay more focus on the Champions league,who knows ?
This was how they started last season and ended up being the champion of Europa which gave them an automatic ticket to the champions league. So let's relax and watch how their performance will be in UCL,maybe very poor or not.
There are many other examples if you want to mention them. I mean; PSG, Barcelona, Atletico Madrid, and several other top teams failed in the Champions League even though they were title winners in their respective domestic leagues. I agree with you that a team's performance in the domestic league cannot be completely used as a benchmark that they will perform just as bad in the Champions League.

This is not something new because if we remember last season they were also like that in domestic competitions.
I think in this case Sevilla will still be the same as before where they will continue to struggle but when they get good momentum they will return to form.
Now it's quite interesting what José Luis Mendilibar will do whether he will focus on at least competing to qualify for the Champions League group stage or give up the Champions League in the hope of finishing in 3rd place and repeating in the Europa League just like last season with a note that they have to focus more on La Liga in order to perform a little better.
With the current conditions I think one must be taken because seeing last season they were more focused on the Europa League it was good depending on José Luis Mendilibar's plan whether to follow the same plan as last season or change by focusing on improving in La Liga.
I don't consider Sevilla really capable of qualifying for the knockout stages this season if they can't improve their performance. Their chances are not better than Arsenal or PSV, but they have a chance to win the match and get points. The main target remains, they want to qualify for the last 16 but maybe it would be better if they went down to the Europa League and competed better there instead of just falling in the last 16.
