These first 4 matches were very disappointing for Chelsea where they were only able to win 1, draw 1 and lose twice. But I wouldn't come to the same conclusion as you considering they have 34 games in hand this season. Chelsea is still in a transition stage where they are trying to adjust their players and coaches well to form a good scheme as a strong team. You can't expect it to be completed easily without hard and consistent work, which means you have to be patient enough for the process to work.
If Newcastle were able to finish in the top 4 last season then why do you think Chelsea can't do it after spending so much money building up their squad? I think you all just need to be patient (if you are a Chelsea fan), but otherwise have fun if you are not one.
Basically Chelsea are not without improvement, but they are not yet as perfect as most people would hope. The average fan wants Chelsea to easily return to the peak of their best performance after Pochettino took over as coach, but in fact it is not that easy. You're right, they have to be patient, but at least Pochettino has to prove he can make a positive impact on Chelsea's form.
In the first 4 matches, Chelsea were only able to win against Luton Town, but they were not as good as expected in the other 3 matches. Pochettino certainly still has a lot of time and opportunity to improve, but the problem is he really needs to be able to do it as quickly as possible so that he and his future do not fall under immense pressure. I remember Arsenal almost fired Arteta, but because of good trust and support, Arteta was able to prove that his work for Arsenal was truly great.
