Political power is said to be the ability to control people in a country without problem.but too much political power bring about dictators.
Every that's too much is bad and the same goes with the power that an official in the government has. The tendency of abuse and corruption is higher if that person is thinking of that. But not all that has the same power are abusing it, there are still honest officials and workers for the public service.

There is a popular saying that power corrupt, but absolute power corrupt absolutely.
It's on the mindset of the official. You'll see how they work when they're already in the office and if they're truly corrupt, you'll see them how they perform and take action based on the post that they've been elected.
