Real Madrid has had a great start to this season as so far Real Madrid have played four matches winning four out of four matches to top the points table with 12 points. While Real Madrid have started the season right, Barcelona have not started the season right so far. Barcelona must come back and win the next matches. Barcelona will not be able to close the points gap with Girona and Real Madrid if they fail to win the next matches.
I think it's too early to talk about where they might be now, because the league has just started and there's still a long way to go. Yes now maybe Atletico Madrid are in 4th place, but they still have 1 more match, precisely meeting Sevilla which should have been done in week 4 ago. Assuming that they win that game, then they will have the same points as Barcelona and Girona.
