One point from four games is a very poor result from Lyon but I would have liked the management to give him more time. Lyon finished seventh last season which made them not qualify for any of the European championships and the Ligue 1 season is still young. Lyon can still improve and fight for a place in Europe for next season. But the the club management has the final decision. The main challenge now will be to get the best replacement for Laurent Blanc. I read that that the former Brighton and Chelsea manager Graham Potter was contacted to replace the Frenchman but he turned down the deal. The club is now heavily link to the former Napoli, Milan, and Valencia manager Gennaro Gattuso. Except the John Textor has other plans for Gattuso, I don't think the Italian is better than Blanc.
It's true that many people doubt the quality of Gennaro Gattuso tactics, especially when he is required to bring Lyon up from the relegation zone like they are now. Few coaches have the courage to take a job at a club in decline, a big name gamble and his coaching record will be a question mark if it doesn't work out. I think it would be better for Lyon management to appoint an interim coach until the end of the season, rather than receiving continuous rejection.
However, there is news that Gattuso is getting closer to becoming the new coach, discussions regarding contract details are currently in the discussion stage. Maybe Gattuso will have better luck in Ligue 1, after being sacked by Valencia in La Liga.
