Atletico Madrid haven't made much change in their squad for this season. This is a usual thing for Atletico Madrid so I'm not surprised with that. However they have still made a good progress compared to last season. Because this time Atletico Madrid started the season really strongly. Especially that win by 7-0 was brutal. 
Simeone is actually using his usual system so I guess it is related to the players now. They seem much more concentrated on their game at the beginning of the season. This is a really important thing for Atletico Madrid to keep up with Barcelona - Real Madrid duo this time.

Too defensive, they have nothing to win this season, just another season to try luck and get dumped out if the Champions League group stages. It's a decade already would be the right season to part ways with Diego Simeone.
This season my eyes would be focused on Mason Greenwood and the club FC BARCELONA.
Mason should have a great season with Getefe, so far the club has seen his jersey producing the highest sale's in the last 48 hours of the club. I still have that hard feeling in my head he'll definitely return to Manchester United. They just can't lose such a huge quality player. NO!
Barcelona? I'm sure of Xavi Hernandez and the rest of the players winning the league for the second time again. Lots of hardworking required but it will be achieved.
Atletico Madrid would most probably part ways with Diego Simeone if they can't fight for the La Liga title once again. He is already in his last year on his contract. I'm just hyped about their start to the season for now. But I'm not confident of them to be successful at the end of the season on one hand.
Even if Atletico Madrid is successful this season, I don’t think they are going to extend the contract with Diego Simeone. But at the same time, this is the time when good coaches are not available. So it is not going to be that surprising if they end up extending the contract. But I believe the chance is really low for that to happen.
Mason Greenwood has set sail for a new adventure with Getafe. It was the right thing to do for him because of Manchester United's leaving him out of squad. He is still very young and a talented player. If he plays regularly he can adapt again and we might see some good effort from him.
Mason Greenwood had to make a difficult choice, but I think this was a good choice. No reason for him to stay in a club that is not going to play him regularly. Especially at this age when he needs to play a lot. I think he will not face too many difficulties, trying to settle into his new club.
As for Barcelona we will see. Real Madrid are really assertive this season. We might see a title race until the end. 
We all know that La Liga table is dominated by Barcelona and Real Madrid. But this time probably Atletico Madrid will be able to give some competition to them. But it is going to be a title race until the end
