In my country the people don't buy iPhones(or expensive smartphones in general) by paying the whole price upfront.
They buy iPhones by paying monthly for 24-month periods. Paying a monthly fee won't break your wallet, but at the end of the day, that's just a smartphone.
I agree that we don't need expensive toys like iPhone 15, but that's human nature. Many people just buy expensive items to brag and flex.
Many people want to look rich, while in reality they are just middle class or poor. The marketing experts at iPhone understand this and they are exploiting this part of human nature very well. AFAIK, the new iPhones will be assembled in India(Bharat) by Indians from the working class, but the consumers in the USA and Europe keep thinking that iPhone is this super luxurious, super high quality toy, which helps you show of your "high" social status.
