I don’t think that a bitcoin event will cause a spike in bitcoin price, we have the bitcoin pizza day every year and never has bitcoin hit ATH on that day. Don’t put too much on these events, they are organized for people to network and socialize, as for this event being a medium of outreach I doubt there are many newbies attending such events, most of the attendees will be people who are already in the crypto space and have fair knowledge of the bitcoin ecosystem.
