Some great advice and opinions on this thread, great to see. I think all gamblers overdo it once in a while but as a person who genuinely enjoys gambling for entertainment and has previously made some poor mistakes I will say.
1. Learn from your mistakes, those times you took it too far were because you lost control and ignored your gut telling you to slow down.
2. Substitute playing yourself for watching someone else play, it can be just as entertaining and sometimes even more entertaining when the stakes are higher than your typical bets.
3. Read the stories of others who over did it, it will keep you humble and you'll learn from others mistakes.
There's no such thing as a winning strategy, most of the time you're just making your balance go further than it would without a strategy, which is fine! If you're gambling for entertainment then staying alive longer is good value for money
