However Newcastle's squad quality isn't as good as Chelsea's firstly. Secondly they don't have as much experience as Chelsea in this tournament. They aren't as big as them in short. They don't have a mentality that is as strong as Tuchel's Chelsea either now.
Considering all of this the biggest achievement they can get is to qualify for next round in my opinion.
I don't believe anyone is expecting Newcastle to do anything like what Chelsea did in the season they won the champion league against all odds, Chelsea are actually a big club and I'm surprised they don't have more champions league trophy to their name. The current Chelsea squad (when they get their shit together) can do more damage then the Newcastle team. In the champions league experience has a major role to play and that's why we won the title ahead of Manchuria city because it was their first time getting to the final but they won the next time they made it to the final which is the just concluded season. Newcastle progressing in the champion league is going to make them weak in the premier league because they can't handle both pressure.
We can't compared the situation of Chelsea under Thomas Tuchel, he has solid plans for the club. We shouldn't be having this conversation about Newcastle United winning the UEFA Champions League, it's an impossible mission. We know the competitive teams that would push harder for the league.
Thomas tuchel is more of an intellectual manager than whoever is coaching Newcastle United. Thomas tuchel also has many experience in the champions league and whoever is managing Newcastle probably don't have any champions league experience. Newcastle made a mistake of not going for Ronaldo as he won't have turned down the approach for atleast a season more in the champions league through loan and as for the fee, probably they would have found a way for Al Nassr to handle part of the fees. Newcastle don't have experience both on the players side and also the managers side but during Chelsea winning season we had some players with lots of champions league experience and also a manager that have taken top teams to an advance stages of the tournament.
