A lie is always a lie no matter how sweet sugarcoated it is.
Not all lies are the same, and if you would like to see how world would look like without even a most harmless lies, you might wanna check The Invention of Lying. I have never seen anywhere lie after being told does good but rather harm the situation making it escalate.
