Mainz has only one point and are therefore at last place in the table. The defence has had a poor performance so far and also has major personnel worries. Even in the last match against Augsburg, midfielder Dominik Kohr had to help out in the central defence. Now they have another bad news. Defender Andreas Hanche-Olsen will have surgery on his foot and will not be able to play for at least 4 months.
Mainz is going through a very difficult period right now, and they probably shouldn't count on points in the next three rounds, since they will have to play Bayer Leverkusen, Burussia Monchengladbach and Bayern. Although maybe with Mönchengladbach they should try to pick up points, (since they are not as far behind them in the table) as Darmstadt did, but I think that Mönchengladbach is at the bottom because they had a really very difficult schedule of games and now they will correct the situation.
